My new mixer hard at work making an enormous cake.
I love my kitchenaid and all of the attachments that I have to go with. Especially during hunting season. My kitchenaid has a meat grinder attachment. You would be amazed at how much more deer you can process off of a carcass if you grind up the little extra bits and add some beef fat (that, surprisingly you can get for free around here!)
Another nifty money saving trick I use is to buy beef tips in bulk add fat grind them up and make my own hamburger. Be sure to package them in freezer paper and then put the freezer paper in plastic bags to ensure that you don’t have freezer burn issues. Or you could wrap them in plastic wrap and then freezer paper – I thinks that how the butcher does it.
Then there is the sausage making tool! Love, love, love this. You can get sausage spices and the wrappers here. Then it is just the simple process of grinding up your meat, adding the spices then stuffing the casing. Super simple and so wonderful to serve.
I have an Italian girlfriend who comes over from time to time for a cooking fest. We made sausage and homemade red sauce ~ can you say to die for? That and some good fresh crusty bread and a glass of wine. It was memorable.
All this talk of Italian reminds that there is also a pasta maker attachment that will press out perfect pasta dough including making spaghetti strands. And if you are part of the natural food craze, you should be thrilled to learn that there is a spiralizer attachment now too!
If you already have a kitchenaid, I highly recommend that you invest in the attachments. They make having the utensil so much more versatile.
